This position will be remunerated monthly.

Job Specification

  • The following Key Performance Areas are covered by the position:
  • Organisational Skills Development
  • Conduct organisational skills audits, analyse and collate skills audit findings
  • Identify, implement/facilitate and evaluate training and development interventions
  • Source and approve suitable external training providers where required
  • Submit WSP/ATR and Discretionary Grant applications to the MerSETA
  • Identify, evaluate and implement SETA initiatives for funding
  • Effectively manage schedules, records and accounts receivable
  • Maintain Training Quality Management System in line with SETA accreditation requirements
  • Learner Management
  • Source, register, appoint and place suitable learners for Learnerships, Apprenticeships and Internships as per organisational and industry needs and ensure statutory regulations are followed
  • Monitor, review learner progress and report to business
  • Apply and prepare apprentices for trade tests
  • Assign mentors and facilitate relationship between mentors and mentees
  • Ensure that learner payroll information is captured, collated and submitted to the payroll department (i.e. salaries, overtime, etc.)
  • Assist and provide disciplinary support to branches who host learners
  • Stakeholder Relations
  • Provide specialised technical and general training support to internal and external stakeholders to ensure achievement of functional and organisational objectives
  • Liaise with industry role players (e.g. SETA’s, training providers, etc.) for training provider accreditation
  • Reporting
  • Collate and submit skills development reports when required

Required Qualifications / Experience

  • Driver’s license (Code EB)
  • Matric (Grade 12)
  • Minimum NQF7 / 3 year Degree/Advanced Diploma in Human Resources, ETD or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in an operational Skills Development role
  • Experience in the facilitation of training previous experiences as a SDF advantageous
  • Extensive knowledge in South African Skills Development landscape and legislative processes
  • Extensive technical training knowledge for the steel industry
  • Incumbent will be expected to travel to Macsteel branches – own vehicles advantageous
  • Strong customer focus – both internal and external
  • Strong sense of urgency and ability to deal with multiple priorities

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills

  • Will report to the Group Training Manager – Clerissa Bester
