Castellated Beams

Castellated Beams

A Castellated Beam is an expanded beam with regular repeating patterns of hexagonal holes. Castellated beams are typical 1.5 times deeper than the parent section and this results in a beam that is much stronger than its parent section. Castellated beams can be utilized in roof, floor or column applications in various steel structures.

The increase in height provides an economical solution in keeping the weight of the parent section size the same whilst increasing its strength. Macsteel can also produce curved castellated beams, mainly used in rafter applications.  We can manufacture lengths up to 22m.

Castellated Beams can be produced from the full range of structural I and H sections.
