An expanded universal beam or universal column with regular repeating patterns of hexagonal holes. A Castellated Beam is typically 1.5 times deeper than the parent section and this results in a beam that is much stronger than its parent section. Castellated beams can be utilised in roof, floor or column applications in various steel structures. The increase in height provides an economical solution in keeping the weight of the parent section size the same whilst increasing its strength.
Macsteel can also produce curved castellated beams, mainly used in rafter applications. We can manufacture castellated beams up to 22m.
