Bright Bar Round Drawn 230M07 (EN 1A) is popular because of its low carbon-manganese grade. This free cutting steel is typically used for the manufacturing of components that require a superior surface finish with high production rates. Cutting speeds on this grade are considerably higher than those of mild steels. The potential for welding and forming is however limited because of the high sulphur content. Bright Bar Round Drawn 230M07 (EN 1A)is not suitable for hot dipped galvanising. The material can be carburized to produce components with enhanced wear resistance.
Code: | RBD 230M07 |
Use: | General Engineering, Automotive, Mining, Medical equipment, Shopfitting |
Colour: | Blue |
Sizes Available: | 6mm – 50mm |
Grades: | BS 970 230M07 / SAE 1214 (EN1A) |
Applications: | This very popular grade of low carbon-manganese free cutting steel is widely used for the manufacture of components requiring an excellent surface finish with high production rates. Limited welding and forming capabilities due to high sulphur content. Will electroplate but not suitable for hot dip galvanising. Can be carburised to produce components with enhanced wear resistance. Most suitable for the manufacture of repetition turned components, e.g. bolts, hydraulic fittings and studs, particularly where intricate drilling and machining operations are involved. |
