Macsteel supports Dynamic Sport and Movement Academy (DSMA). They designed an Early Childhood Development (ECD) Movement Programme to make the most of this crucial phase. And in 2026, the programme is expanding to transform even more young lives.

Closing the Early Learning Gap

In South Africa, too many children begin their school journey already behind. Many (especially those in under-resourced communities) have never had access to structured early learning or physical development opportunities. By Grade R, gaps in fine motor skills, balance, coordination, and focus noticeably hold them back.

DSMA’s ECD Movement Programme changes that trajectory. It is simple, accessible, and built into the rhythm of the school day. For just 30 minutes per day, trained movement coaches lead structured, play-based sessions that:

• Strengthen fine and gross motor skills
• Increase concentration, focus, and behavioural regulation
• Build confidence and emotional readiness for the classroom

The programme isn’t an add-on. It’s an essential early-learning tool wrapped in fun, energy, and joyful movement.

The 2026 Momentum | Communities Leading the Way

The strongest validation of this programme is the chorus of “yes” coming directly from the community.

For the 2026 cycle, 13 ECD centres and two primary schools have already confirmed participation, with more preparing to join. Even more inspiring: principals have chosen to absorb the minimal R45-per-learner programme fee so that no child is excluded because of financial constraints.
