For a decade, the Sun Village Masters Soccer Tournament has brought together teams, spectators, and partners. Here, sport becomes a catalyst for meaningful connection and positive social change. That’s why Macsteel is proud to sponsor this milestone tournament.

Since its inception as a local competition ten years ago, the tournament has grown from strength to strength. With KK Moilwa Legacy Foundation onboard, it now hosts 32 squads from all over South Africa! In fact, this year, team affiliations sold out in just 30 minutes - highlighting the prestige of the event.

Amongst those eager to participate were 13 teams affiliated with the Bojanala Masters League. It’s particularly heart-warming for us as they competed in the founding tournament and most of their players hail from the mining platinum belt in the region.

As in 2024, ex-professional South African footballers with the guts to have difficult chats will join the 2025 pre-tournament activation at Sun Village, Sun City. It is the perfect opportunity to see legends Jacob Tshisevhe, Solly Mathe, Vuyo Mere, and Tintswalo Tshabalala in person while addressing critical social issues, including gender-based violence.

Once again, LifeLine Rustenburg teams up with us, ready to listen and guide anyone who needs it. This year we acknowledge Kgabo Safaris and Valterra Platinum. And welcome the South African National Blood Service (SANBS) to our games - because the only place blood should flow is where it can save lives!

In partnership with KK Moilwa Legacy Foundation, we turn the pitch into a platform for change. As teams battle it out on the field, conversations unfold among spectators about respect, teamwork, and building safer communities. Messages like "Real men respect women" spark meaningful dialogue that extends far beyond the final whistle. This is what collaborative impact looks like: sport, education, and heart working together.

Impact That Stretches Beyond the Pitch

Macsteel’s continued enthusiasm as the main sponsor of the Sun Village Masters Soccer Tournament is rooted in the powerful impact this initiative has had over the years. The 2024 champions, Real Sundowns Masters Football Club, walked away with R70,000 in prize money, but their true victory lay in giving back. In a remarkable act of generosity, they directed their ring-fenced R10,000 donation toward providing school shoes for learners at Carter Primary and Ekhukhanyisweni Primary Schools in Alexandra.

Their gesture perfectly embodies Macsteel’s spirit of community upliftment — where every goal scored and every partnership formed goes beyond the game to make a difference in people’s lives.
