A Day that Changed Lives

On 18 September 2025, the stunning Glendower Golf Course transformed from a place to play a round to the launching pad for an educational breakthrough.

A full field of 136 golfers teed off with one goal: to give the learners at Galway Primary School in Germiston the tools to build a brighter future.

The Challenge: Building a Foundation for Learning

Across South Africa, many children face overcrowded classrooms and limited access to specialised support. Macsteel believes that by creating the right learning environment, learners can unlock their potential and build a better tomorrow.

Galway Connect is an initiative inspired by our founder’s lifelong passion for education. It reflects the core of Macsteel’s CSR commitment: turning partnerships into measurable community impact.

Your Impact: From Fairway to Future-Proof Skills

Thanks to your brilliant swings and generous spirits, the day was a triumph. The final tally? A phenomenal R200,000 raised to start building an AI-enhanced Language Lab at Galway Primary.

This lab will be a game-changer. It will serve 700+ learners annually with 1:1 literacy and mathematics coaching, giving them the foundation they need to thrive in all subjects. (It’s like giving each child a dedicated caddy for their learning journey!)

A Celebration of Community

The energy was incredible from the first tee. The Galway Primary Line Dance Champions kicked things off with a burst of delight, and the charity auction saw our industry partners’ generosity in full force. In fact, the amazing prizes valued at R168,000 showcased just how powerful we can be when we team up.

The best moment came later, at the school’s assembly where learners celebrated with songs of gratitude. The cheque handover ceremony was a joyful reminder of the strength of collaborative impact.
